Legislation tackles ‘bath salt’ drugs

The “bath salts,” marketed under such names as Blue Majic, Blue Silk, Ivory Snow, Vanilla Sky, Purple Wave, Hurricane Charlie and White Dove, are showing up at several of the same shops that previously sold synthetic cannabinoid products, such as K2 and Spice.

One year ago, Kansas banned the synthetic marijuana-like substance K2. The herbal-like potpourri is showing up again under different names, such as Hurricane and Thunder, and are legal.Several people in Kansas are working on legislation to control the entire family of synthetic cannabinoids. Bill 2049 passed the House on Friday.

There also is a bill expected on “bath salts.”
