Boston mayor proposes statewide drug testing

“BOSTON (AP) – Boston Mayor Tom Menino is pushing for a state law that would require random drug and alcohol testing for all police and firefighters.
Boston and its firefighters union have been embroiled in a bitter contract dispute that has stalled in part over testing. Substance abuse is suspected of contributing to the deaths of two firefighters in an August 2007 restaurant fire in the city.”
