Heroin becoming drug of choice in suburbs

“Albany’s department has seen the effects in certain crimes escalating. In the fall of 2008, a series of residential burglaries was linked to a group of young people addicted to heroin. The teens and young adults were found to have become addicted to prescription pain medications and turned to heroin use when the drug was cheaper to buy. The burglaries were a way to fund their drug use, Albany said.”
