Household item sparks new drug

Misuse of the bath salt has the same effects as meth, and is actually banned in Scotland following related deaths. Now, Lee County authorities have learned of local usage through domestic disturbances.

“Hallucinations, seeing things that weren’t there. We had one individual in the backseat of our car that was just absolutlely paranoid because he felt like cars were trying to run over him while he was in the patrol car,” says Lee County Sheriff, Jim Johnson

“There’s nothing you can do, it’s not illegal. Unless they say it has meth in it or that it is meth, there is nothing they can do,” she said.

“It’s just a cheaper way to get a high and now people are abusing it,” Johnson added. “I’m afraid we’re going to have to address it I just don’t know what we’re going to do.”
