Federal drug agents on Tuesday charged four CVS pharmacy employees with stealing and selling painkillers and other prescription medications from their store inventories.
The four pharmacy technicians worked at CVS stores in East Hartford, Old Saybrook, Litchfield and North Haven and were charged under a continuing law enforcement operation against the illegal distribution of prescription drugs, according to U.S. Attorney David B. Fein.
“The illegal distribution of prescription drugs is a significant problem, and there are signs it is growing increasingly worse,” Fein said Tuesday.
CVS pharmacy technicians are assigned clerical duties as well as data entry, third-party payment resolution, inventory management and other administrative functions, a spokesman for the chain said.
