A Disturbing Rise in Oxycodone Deaths

“The number of accidental overdoses are up around the county now surpassing the number of people who die each year in motor vehicle accidents and by being shot to death.In years past, most accidental overdoses were done by people in their 40’s and 50’s who just over-medicated while they were treating themselves for chronic pain. The medical examiner is seeing a disturbing trend. Young people who are dying from overdoses of oxycodone are dying because of abuse.”Oxycontin is really the one who has stood out… We’ve seen a tripling of the numbers in the last two years so the issue is real,” says Deputy Medical Examiner Dr. Jonathan Lucas.”
